video recorded on a Firestore FS-4 with a SONY PD-150

Did your trusty ol' video camera kick the bucket? Well if the cause of death is bad recording tape heads, don't give up yet. You might be able to bring it back to life with a Firestore. What is a Firestore you say? It's a DTE (Direct to Edit) recorder and it records video digitally straight to a portable hard drive connected to a camcorder. If your "dead" camera has a working firewire port and the tape deck still functions (able to roll tape at least) then plug a Firestore in that puppy and hit record. I tested this with a busted Sony PD150. When recording on tape the camera would drop frames and audio would cut in and out. A sign the tape head has had its final days. But when recording on on an FS-4 the video recorded smooth and que linda. The video was looking good like the good ol'days and NO CAPTURING WHATSOVEVA. It's definitely not a cheap piece of tech but definitely cheaper than a new prosumer camera or trip to the manufacturer for fixin.
