I'm not sure what you mean by relevance. Relevant to what?
And do you mean the physical medium of film?
I think film as a specific technology for producing moving pictures is irrelevant. But so is video tape. It doesn't matter what technology one uses. What matters is story, and that's what's always mattered ever since early homo sapiens sapiens started tellling each other stories around the campfire...
