I heard that! I'm contemplating a camera upgrade this year. So many swear by the DVX100B. I 've shot with it and that 24p craze sucked me in. Great Camera! But my trusty old Sony PD100 is almost 8 years old and still rolling along. I guess my heart still belongs to Sony, and maybe the z7u will be xpensive, but treat me well for years to come.
I guess lately my questions has been: 1. Even with the cheap Compact Flash, will it still beat the price of shooting on tape? MiniDV is still a bargain and if u don't have drive space to download the Flash cards, then does math still check out budget-wise?
2. Sony z7u uses the HDV codec. I have production buddies that have said HDV is an inferior HD codec. Supposedly the Pana. h.264 codec is superior and would be more useful in the professional world. I dunno if that's tru. I still think HD hasn't taken over yet, and an SD image from an HDV source looks great to me, so should HDV vs. h.264HD be a deciding factor?
Any thoughts?
