Since things have been somewhat slow on the blog I thought I would start a new "category," something others can contribute to over time: Tips and Tricks. As we were discussing at the last Pan Left meeting, there should be more skillsharing and "quality control" within our collective - constructive feedback on works in progress, mentoring, checklists, and the like. This helps us all improve and also keep the Pan Left name as a mark of something people know is great.
Personally, my own health has been on my mind lately which luckily I was reminded about author Michael Pollan. Pollan is someone I have been paying attention too for a while, and I have yet to read his book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma (anybody lend me a copy?), but whenever book excerpts and articles arise with his name, I'm right there.
[and now another entry in the continuing series of rants from a leftist.]

Dear Movie Diary,
It has been a little while since I last wrote. I went to the theater last week to see the best rated films that will probably be up for Oscars. I first went to www.rottentomatoes.com to see what were the highest rated films at the El Con theater. I picked NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and JUNO. I wondered if all the hype would make me feel dissapointed about the movies, and it did. And then again, maybe I was just in a funny mood.
Dear Movie Diary,
In light of my new sensitivity, I got 3 comedies on my video plan for this weekend. Last night I started watching THE SOLOMON BROTHERS and had to stop it 1/4 way through because it was just not funny. End of story!
We are high school students from Barrio Anita and Dunbar/Spring neighborhood. We are making a video about these historic neighborhoods and how they've changed over time. In the past few months we've conducted over 15 interviews with long-term neighborhood residents and are in the process of turning them into an video about where we come from and what our future may hold. We'd like to thank Pan Left for equipment and support! -students of Stories Of Our Streets
