Charismatic Megafauna Non-Debut

At the end of February I was supposed to perform live audio and video under my pseudonym, Charismatic Megafauna, at the Dry River experimental art festival, FLOOD. However, I was so busy that I didn't have time to prepare, so instead I showed a slide show with narration that humorously "explained" why I wasn't able to perform, then played a previously made video piece. For y'alls entertainment, this is that slide show turned into a video.

Personally, my own health has been on my mind lately which luckily I was reminded about author Michael Pollan. Pollan is someone I have been paying attention too for a while, and I have yet to read his book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma (anybody lend me a copy?), but whenever book excerpts and articles arise with his name, I'm right there.

"Passage" is a study of the contrasts between the inequalities of urban human life, and the raw purity of the natural world. It reflects my fascination with both -- and ultimately, seeks out those places where they intersect.

Shot in Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil in 2004 and 2005.

Musical improvisation by Nick Luca at Synaesthesia 2007.

Produced and edited by Sonya Angelica Diehn.

The final cut will premiere at the Synaesthesia DVD release show Friday, Feb. 1 beginning 9 PM at El Ojito, 340 N. 4th Ave. (see prior post)
