On January 16 the masses gathered in Phoenix to march for human rights and demand action from the Obama administration to stop the abuses by Sheriff Joe Arpaio . The momentum towards change is getting stronger. Last summer, I got paid $120 to work a few days as a grip and sound guy for a production crew from Montana. They were hired by my supervisor, Kirk Astroth (the Director of AZ 4-H Youth Development), to produce a science-based short for kids about desert life. Kirk is also behind a larger project called TerraPod. Here's the final piece.

Lately, I've been doing a lot of online (and word-of-mouth) research on a variety of 35mm adapters for digital video. While perusing the web, I stumbled across this comprehensive and highly-informative tutorial that fully explains the physics behind the ubiquitous "Depth of Field" (DOF) issue. For those of you who are just geeky enough to get off on this sort of thing, or if you are also planning on using a DOF adapter at some point in the future, I recommend taking a look at this 20-minute instructional video.
